Just earlier this year, she never studied and still managed to get great grades, but after she started falling behind because she wasn’t working, she had to start studying. I’m always getting distracted and sometimes don’t listen in class when I should and I wait until last minute to work and study. My parents say they’re still proud of me and I know that my parents are still making it easier for me than some other parents would, but I know they expect the best from me and I hate myself for not doing better. Whenever I get a grade that’s below what I want or if I don’t get the highest grade in class, like what I’m used to, I get really sad and stressed out. I’m trying to force myself to study but I always procrastinate and I think I’m trying to take classes that I might not be ready for. I am a freshman in high school and I think I’m starting to get burnt out. I know this was posted a while back but I relate to this. We all have the same potential, and it is crucial to treat ourselves as such. Even as parents or as teachers, we must decide to promote perseverance and teach better habits to our students. To me, it seems like the best we can do for each other is respect hard effort over the letter grade.
